Kenneth Nels Peterson was born on July 17, 1939, at Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital in Montevideo, Minnesota, the son of Emil and Vernice (Severson) Peterson. Kenneth was baptized and confirmed at Granite Falls Lutheran Church. He attended school in Granite Falls and graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1957.
Kenny was united in marriage to Sonja Lee Elsie Siverhus on October 10, 1959, at Saron Lutheran Church in Maynard, Minnesota. The couple were blessed with a daughter, Pamela Lee and a son, Barry Kenneth. Kenny owned and operated the family resort “Pete’s Point Resort” along with his wife, Sonja. He was also employed by U.P.S as a mechanic for 36 years.
Kenny was a passionate outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, trap, fish and teach his grandchildren about wildlife. Kenny enjoyed fishing the Minnesota River, Missouri River in South Dakota and taking numerous “Up North” fishing trips. These trips became a lifetime of some of the best memories with family, friends and grandchildren. Kenny also enjoyed Minnesota sports, the Vikings, Twins and Gophers. He enjoyed living life to the fullest.
Kenny is survived by his daughter, Pamela (Gregory) Wilkening; son, Barry Peterson both of Granite Falls; five grandchildren, Kristina (Jesse) Eisenbacher, John Wilkening, Zachary (Nicole) Wilkening, Nicholas Peterson and Abigail Peterson all of Granite Falls; six great grandchildren, Ayva Wilkening, Braden Eisenbacher, Emma Eisenbacher, Vanessa Ochoa, Mario Ochoa, Jaime Ochoa all of Granite Falls; sisters-in-law, Karen Peterson of Buffalo, Karleen (Tom)Williamson of Maynard; sister, Eunice (Larry) Davis of St. Augustine Beach, FL; brother-in-law, Ronald (Susan) Siverhus of Maynard, Donald Siverhus of Montevideo; aunt, Pat Peterson of Alexandria and extended family and friends.
Kenny is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sonja; brother, Wayne Peterson; sister, Sherri Peterson; granddaughter, Roselynn Peterson; father and mother-in-law, Arnold and Cynthia Siverhus; sister-in-law, Carol Siverhus; uncles, Palmer Peterson, Hiram (Alice) Peterson, Henry Peterson.
