Kenneth Koenen

July 19, 1928 — November 11, 2009

Kenneth Isaac Koenen was born July 19, 1928 in Grace Township, Chippewa County, rural Montevideo, Minnesota, the son of Aeise and Marie Koenen. He passed away Wednesday November 11, 2009 at the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital. He was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at St. JohnÂ?s Lutheran Church of rural Montevideo. He grew up and attended country school in the Montevideo area. Kenneth proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served as a heavy machine operator while stationed in North Carolina and California. He received an honorable discharge in 1953. On November 26, 1954 Kenneth was united in marriage to Frances Klinghagen at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. To this union four children were born.Kenneth was a proud member of the American Legion, Lutheran Brotherhood and Western Co-op Transport and was a founding member of the Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative. He served on the Cenex Board, school board, Co-op Credit Union Board, Farmers Co-op Fertilizer Board and church council. He enjoyed camping, fishing, vacationing in Texas, and spending time with his family.Kenneth is survived by his wife, Frances Koenen of Clara City, Minnesota; Children: Linda (Richard) Blackwelder of Canby, Minnesota; Debra (Jim) Bosshart of Littleton, Colorado; Randall (Debra) Koenen of Grand Forks, North Dakota; Ronald (Karin) Koenen of Clara City, Minnesota; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren; brother: Vernon (Ruth) Koenen of Watson, Minnesota.He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Caroline Langseth and Loretta Jaenisch Pieper; brothers: Harold, Melvin, Donald, Orville, Gerald Koenen, and two brothers in infancy.
