Keith Leroy Olson was born August 16, 1933 in Eagle Bend, Minnesota, the son of Ray and Cecilia (Zeug) Olson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and grew up in St. Peter. Keith graduated from St. Peter High School and continued his education at Mankato Area Vo-tech. Keith served his country in the United States Army and received his honorable discharge in 1956. He was stationed in Arlington, Virginia where he served in the Military Police. On August 25, 1956, Keith and Helen Binns were married. The couple later divorced. He worked as an engineer with Parker Hannifin Corp in Granite Falls, Year Around Cab Co. as a process engineer in Mankato, K&M Manufacturing in Renville, and later as an independent sales agent. Keith enjoyed gunsmithing, hunting, shooting, fishing, and golfing. He was a member of the Appleton Sportsman Club, the American Legion and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. His greatest joy was his family. For that reason, he retired back to Minnesota to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He took great pride in his grandchildren and loved to tell anyone that would listen about their accomplishments. A very patriotic man, he loved and supported his country, and held the utmost respect for those who serve and have served. He is survived by his children: Terry (Randy) Hindt of Lakeville; Gene (Lori) Olson of Montevideo; Tracy Rice of Montevideo; Kelly Brendmoen of Montevideo; Shawn (Todd) Quick of Parkers Prairie; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister: Valerie (Tim) Andrews of Kettering, Ohio; sister-in-law: Dorothy Olson of St. Peter. Keith was preceded in death by his parents, his son-in-law, Steve Brendmoen, who, per Keith’s request, had lovingly handcrafted Keith’s cremation urn, and his brother Ray Olson.
