Katie Elizabeth Kvam, 43, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016, at her home in Granite Falls, MN.
Katie was born July 17, 1973 to Carolyn (Nelsen) and Dennis Femrite. She graduated from Montevideo High School in 1991. She developed a passion for fashion and attended Ridegewater College where she earned a degree in Cosmetology.
In 1992 Katie married Ronald DeJong and was blessed with two beautiful children, Zachary and Amanda. She later married Curtis Kvam in 2004 and was blessed with her third beautiful child, Kyra.
Katie’s children were the most precious things in her life. Katie was an incredible, loving mother who loved nothing more than spending time with her children. She was amazing in the kitchen and loved cooking and baking for her family. She also enjoyed gardening and canning the fruits of her labor. She loved singing and dancing, playing guitar hero, Rockband, karaoke and jamming in the car. Katie was known for spontaneously bursting into song or a quick dance. She loved making her clients at the Hair Connection look fabulous. But more than just making people look good, she had a natural talent to make people feel fabulous just by being around her She could make you feel like the most special person in the world with just a smile. Her smile lit up the room, and her presence lit up the lives of all who knew her.
There are so many words to describe Katie - beautiful, trendy, unique, funny, bubbly, vibrant, caring, compassionate, kind, loving. She truly loved people, and so many people loved her.
Katie was preceded in death by grandparents Henry Nelsen, Lester and Carol Femrite and step-grandparents Richard and Ardis Feldhake.
She is survived by her children Zachary DeJong, St. Cloud, Amanda DeJong, Montevideo, Kyra Kvam, Granite Falls. Parents Carolyn and David Feldhake, Montevideo, and Dennis Femrite, Andover.
