Kathryne Weckwerth, 71, of Cottonwood, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 18th at 10:30 am at Living Word Lutheran Church in Marshall. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5 to 7 pm at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Montevideo and continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Kathryne Ann Weckwerth was born September 6, 1951, the daughter of Milton & Lois Jensen in Montevideo. She was baptized and confirmed at Rosewood Methodist Church. Kathy graduated from the Montevideo High School in 1969. Following high school, she attended Cosmetology School in Willmar.
Kathy was united in marriage with Neal Weckwerth on January 3, 1970, at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo. Kathy and Neal lived in North Carolina, Louisianna and in Texas while Neal was serving his country. They eventually returned to Montevideo where they farmed until 1985. They moved to Windsor, Colorado, where they started a business. Kathy worked in the wood shop alongside Neal. They returned to Minnesota and settled down next to the lake in Cottonwood in 2003. During the winter months they would vacation in Florida.
Kathy loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed her flower gardens and was an avid reader. She spent a lot of time on the deck overlooking the lake.
She is survived by her husband Neal; children: Shawna (Edward) Zwetzig of Echo, Shane (Katie) Weckwerth of Lakeville and Shara Weckwerth of Marshall; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; siblings Marvin (Gayle) Jensen and Betty (Geno) Passmore of Paynesville; in-laws: Judy Bloch & children, Mark & Carman & children and Milt & Kathie & children; and several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Stanley, sister Susan, daughter SharRae, father and mother-in-law Arnold & Marie Weckwerth and brothers-in-law Steve Bloch and Dale Weckwerth.
