Joyce June Nerison was born June 7, 1928 in Cottonwood, Minnesota the daughter of Leonard and Bernice Laroen. She passed away Sunday June 28, 2009 at the Granite Falls Municipal Hospital. She grew up with her family in the Cottonwood area and attended school in Clarkfield, Hanley Falls, and Wood Lake. Joyce was united in marriage to Norman Nerison on June 12, 1946 in Montevideo, Minnesota. To this union they were blessed with seven children. Joyce and Norman lived in Kansas City, Missouri and Granite Falls, before moving to Montevideo, Minnesota. She received her high school diploma with the Montevideo High School in 1968. She went on to attend college at the University of Minnesota Morris receiving her degree in Early Childhood Education. She worked at Plews Manufacturing in Granite Falls as a punch press operator, retiring in 1989.Joyce was a member of Granite Lutheran Church and was active with ladies aid. While raising the children she was very active with 4-H. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, quilting, embroidering, and making hook rugs. Joyce was a devoted wife and loving mother taking pride in raising her family and especially loved her grandchildren. Joyce is survived by her children: James (Gloria) Nerison of Prior Lake, Minnesota; Diane (Curt) Doring of Burnsville, Minnesota; Trudy (Steve) Johnson of Kenyon, Minnesota; Marsha (Bill) DuHoux of Clara City, Minnesota; Bob Nerison of Clara City, Minnesota; Jon Nerison of Burnsville, Minnesota; Mary Jo Weckwerth (fiancé Ken Killebrew) of Savage, Minnesota; 19 grand children; 17 great- grandchildren; sister, Darlene Harris of New Hope, Minnesota, brother: Darrel (Rose) Laroen of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Norman, sister: Ramona Fisher; brother: Leonard Laroen; and nephews: Doug and Dean Steinbach.
