Joyce Marie Borgendale Allchin was born to Ole and Clara Borgendale on August 3, 1927 near Boyd, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd. In 1945, Joyce graduated from Boyd High School, after which she continued her education, graduating from Minneapolis Business College. For a number of years, she worked as a bookkeeper. In October 1952, Joyce married Archie Allchin in Granite Falls. To this union, two daughters were born. Joyce was struck with polio in August of 1955, and spent a year in Sister Kenny Rehab Center. She spent the rest of her life in a wheelchair. At the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital, on Monday evening May 7th, Joyce passed away at the age of 84 years. She is survived by her daughters: Bonnie (Art) Krueger of Elk River and Catherine (Cleo) Eisenlohr of Montevideo; step-daughter, Susan (Dawayne) Preuss of Lakefield; six grandchildren: Eric (Afton) Krueger, Nathan Krueger, Calin (Maria) Eisenlohr and Cara (Chad) Howard; step-grandchildren: Tim (Melanie) Braun and Paul (Jackie) Braun; several great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Hazel Martin and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ole and Clara; her husband Archie; sister Kathleen Iverson and her brother Orville Borgendale.
