Joseph Kotzenmacher was born March 16, 1923, the son of John & Anna Kotzenmacher in Parkston, South Dakota in Hutchinson County. He was baptized in South Dakota and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Raymond, Minnesota. Joe was united in marriage to Alyce Gunderson on January 28, 1943. They lived and farmed in the Clara City and Raymond area.
Joe was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and later St. Clara Catholic Church in Clara City. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he was past Grand Knight. He was also a member of the Catholic Forester Society and the Catholic Aid Society.
Joe passed away on Monday, August 25, 2014 at his residence in Willmar. He was 91 years of age.
He is survived by his nine children: Patricia (Dale) Morse of Willmar; Judy (Paul) Warmka of Wells; Rosemary (Bruce) Felton of Apache Junction, Arizona; Susan (Dick) Ziehl of Raymond; Donna (Roger) Spieker of New London; Joseph (Doreen) Kotzenmacher of Willmar; Debra Hilligoss of St. Peter; Connie Ehrenberg of Bayport and David (Darlene) Kotzenmacher of Willmar; 28 grandchildren: Michele, Tina, Kim, Alan, Dean, Mary, Joel, Bryan, Tara, Chad, Robin, Stacey, Lance, Wes, Chris, Jennifer, Joseph, Justin, Jessica, Jeremiah, Joshua, Marshall, Emily, Brianna, Jackie, Kelsey, Jacob and Kaitlyn; 58 great grandchildren; two sisters: Mary Svobodny of Willmar and Betty (Bud) Sjoquist of Coon Rapids; sister-in-law Adeline Kotzenmacher of Willmar and several extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Alyce, grandson Michael Gimse, great granddaughter Samantha Buntjer, sisters: Juliann & Rose and brothers: John, Matt and Bill.
