John Aeikens of Granite Falls passed away December 24, 2020 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Due to Covid-19 there will be a private service for family on January 9, 2021 at Granite Falls Lutheran Church. A celebration of life will be held in future for all to attend.
John was born on November 13,1941 to Ben & Jesse (Christians) Aeikens. He was a longtime member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Sacred Heart & most recently Granite Falls Lutheran Church. He was baptized & confirmed at Our Savior Lutheran in Montevideo. On November 7, 1964 he was united in marriage to Caron Jurgenson. To this union 3 children were born. Greg, Jodi, Amy.
John will be remembered for his gentle spirit, kindness, big heart, great sense of humor, and his willingness to help others. He was employed by the Sacred Heart Public School for 31 years as a custodian & bus driver. He enjoyed working amongst many wonderful people. John & Caron enjoyed summers with their Canary Beach friends and shared many great fishing stories. John loved growing up with 12 siblings, visiting with his kids, grandchildren, and attending family gatherings. He also enjoyed, playing cards, watching high school sports, and most of all visiting with friends that would stop over because the coffee was always “on”. Many would say that John also made the world’s best chicken.
He is survived by his loving wife Caron, son Greg Aeikens of Sacred Heart, MN, daughter’s Jodi (Kent) Carda of Belgrade, MN, and Amy (Todd) Stegeman of Albertville, MN, also grandchildren Bryan Aeikens of Sacred Heart, MN, and his special friend (Christin Pitt), Jordan Carda of St. Louis, MO, Mykenzie Stegeman and her fiancé (Brock Bender) of Otsego, MN, and Karly & (Matthew) Piper of Minneapolis, MN.
His siblings Kenny (Janice) Aeikens of Benson, MN, Leona Aeikens (Dennis Gabbert) of Granite Falls, MN, Joanne Gliesman (Estle Jenkens) of Courtland IL, Elaine (Larry) Anacleto of Lemoore, CA, Patricia Aeikens of Clovis, CA, Jim (Diane) Aeikens of Cyrus, MN, and in-laws James Peerboom of Rochelle, IL Peggy Aeikens of Bloomington, MN Karen Aeikens of Sycamore,IL, Janice Jurgenson of Plainview, MN, Darlene Jurgenson of Clarkfield, MN and Luverne Johnson of Kenyon, MN. Along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
John is proceeded in death by his parents Ben and Jessie, siblings Donald Aeikens, Donna Peerboom, Rodney Christians, Shirley Tollefson, Dennis (Melva) Aeikens, Wayne (Jeannine) Aeikens, and Beverly Aeikens in infancy. In-laws Arden & Gladys Jurgenson, brother & sister in-laws; Dick Gleisman, Roland Jurgenson, Jeanne Johnson, Arden Jurgenson, Richard (Liz) Jurgenson, Howard (Phyllis) Jurgenson, and Larry Jurgenson.
