JoAnn Christenson, 79, of Montevideo, passed away on Monday, November 29th at the Carris Health Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 3rd at 11 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
JoAnn Marie Christenson was born November 23, 1942, the daughter of Henry & Virgel (Sanderson) Straus, in Clara City. She attended school and graduated from Maynard High School in 1959. JoAnn went to work at the Old Mill in Montevideo following high school and held various other factory and retail jobs around the community during her working years.
She was united in marriage to Robert Christenson on June 19, 1965, in Clara City and together had three children. The family lived in Montevideo where JoAnn was active with St. Joseph Catholic Church and also sang in the church choir. She was on a bowling league and enjoyed traveling and camping around Minnesota parks as the children were growing up. She was also involved with the Montevideo VFW Auxiliary and Montevideo Community Center. JoAnn enjoyed playing cards, bingo, crocheting and quilting.
JoAnn passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021, at Carris Health Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. She was 79 years of age.
She is survived by her children: David of Montevideo, Michael (Kris) Christenson of Hanover, and Lisa (Keith) Willgohs of Madison; five grandchildren: Kaylee Christenson, Chandler Christenson, Nicole (Jordan) Stevens, Sam Christenson, and Brittany Yeager; siblings: Dorine Franzmeier of Benson and Dennis (Jeanne) Straus of Chaska; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, son-in-law Scott Yeager and her brother Eugene Straus.
