Joan Lafler

Joan Lafler, age 69, of Montevideo passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson, Minnesota. No service will be held. 

Joan Marie Lafler was born on June 19, 1955, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, the daughter of Gordon and Doris (Anderson) Lafler. She grew up in Wisconsin attending school there.

When Joan was young, she traveled the upper Midwest states spending a few years in Missouri before moving to Belgrade, Minnesota in the early 2000s. She loved helping the elderly and worked in a few nursing homes and continued caring for those that needed help in their home after leaving the nursing home.

Joan met the love of her life, Irvin Van Binsbergen around 2005 and together they lived in the Willmar area before moving to Montevideo in 2010. Joan loved to dance and gardening, having a green thumb when it came to indoor plants. She was a meticulous housekeeper and loved all animals with both dogs and cats having a special place in her heart.

Joan is survived by her significant other, Irvin Van Binsbergen of Montevideo; sister, Vicki Roberts of Clovis, NM; brother, Wayne (Carla) Lafler of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; and many dear friends who she counted as family. 

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Doris Lafler; twin sister, Joyce Lange-Wolf; brother-in-law, Charlie Roberts; uncle, Larry Anderson; nephews, Ricky and Joey Wolf.
