Joan Geurtz

Joan was born on May 30, 1946 in Willmar to Ray and Helen Westendorf. Her family farmed and settled in rural Clara City where she attended Chippewa County Public Schools. Joan was baptized and confirmed at St. Clara's Catholic Church where she was a lifelong active member. On September 14, 1963 she married John Geurtz and settled in Clara City. Joan worked several years at Jennie-O Foods in Willmar and also at the Clara City Care Center as a dietary aide. Joan enjoyed biking early every morning, gardening, attending to her plants and flowers, and bird watching. She loved playing with her grandchildren. Joan also spent many hours visiting and playing cards with family and friends. She had a passion for life and people. Survivors include her husband John; two sons and two daughters, Mike (Karen) of Willmar. Lee (Racheal NonWeiler) of Willmar, Jaci (Troy) Jurgenson of St. Charles, MN, and Kelli (Corey) Heiser of West Fargo, ND, one sister Barb Geurtz of Raymond, MN, four grandchildren; Jaden, Nolan, Connor and Courtney. Her parents and infant sister preceded her death.
