He was born on June 24, 1917 to Charles and Laura Schaller in Maynard Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian Church in Maynard. He graduated from Maynard High School. He left farm life and began working for Swift and Company Produce. He married Lorraine Ness on July 24, 1938. They had three children; Michael, Kathy, and Joyce. He was married to Lorraine until her death in October 1965. On February 17, 1968 Jesse married Charlene Jung. Jesse worked for the Milwaukee Railroad. He began working in the Roundhouse and retired as an engineer in 1978. Jesse also owned and operated an upholstery business. During his retirement he enjoyed spending the winters in Mesa, Arizona. He enjoyed playing golf, pool, and a good game of cards with his friends. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. For the past four years Jesse has loved living at Brookside Manor in Montevideo and felt a special relationship to all those who are there. Jesse was a member of the United Methodist Church, Sunset Masonic Lodge #109, Zuhrah Shrine of Minneapolis, and Western Minnesota Shrine Club. Jesse is survived by his two daughters; Kathy Beito of Duluth, and Joyce (and Howard) Kron of Clara City, six grandchildren; Loree (and Rich) Sommers, Timothy Schaller, Debra (and Mike) Olson, Heidi (and Dean) Melde, Amy (and Mark) Bjornjeld, and Jennifer (and Philip) Rud, 14 great-grandchildren; Jessica, Molly, Brandon, Shelby, David, Alex, Katrina, Jonah, Caden, Hailli, Brock, Alexandra, Dylan, and Gabriella, 8 great-great-grandchildren; Logan, Lucas, Ava, Gracie, Piper, Chloe, Jordan, and Kaden, four step grandchildren; Cory (and Dinette) Schaller, Tracy (and Erika) Schaller, Troy (and Allison) Schaller, and Cary (and Becky) Schaller, daughter-in-laws; Maureen Schaller and Ruth Schaller, brother; Odell Schaller, Special Friend; Ruby Gilbertson, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; wives; Lorraine (1965) and Charlene (2005), son; Michael Schaller, sisters; Mable Kingdon and Zola Lighter, brothers; John Schaller and Royal Schaller.
