Jennie Streblow

January 24, 1912 — January 15, 2011

Jennie Matilda Streblow, the daughter of John and Oline Johnson, the third of six children, was born on January 24, 1912 in Port Edwards, Wisconsin. She spent her early years in Port Edwards and Wisconsin Rapids. She graduated from Wood County Normal School, Stevens Point Teachers College, and attended one year at Central Bible Institute in Springfield, Missouri. She spent the next ten years as a country school teacher, boarding in the homes of her student's families. Jennie was united in marriage to Emmett Streblow on June 5, 1943, in Wisconsin Rapids.Jennie accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at the age of 17, the first in her family. Her life was marked by a disciplined service to her God, not only as she assisted her husband in his ministry to churches in Wisconsin Rapids and Platteville, WI, Grand Marais, Bemidji, and Granite Falls, MN, and Floris, IA; but also as she reared her five sons, and she was a friend to many. After Emmett's retirement in 1982, they moved back and made Granite Falls their home. With the passing of her husband in May 1998, she continued to live on her own until January 2008 when she moved into a Nursing Home near Duluth and resided there until she was called home by her God on January 8, 2011 at the age of 98. Surviving her are: son Dean (& Joan) of Duluth,MN [ Daren (& Erin), Dana (&Terry) Blomberg, Danielle (& Luke) Fosness], son Dwight (& Roberta) of Grand Rapids, MN [Machele (& Kene) Panas, Jess (& Vigini), Travis (& Brooke)], son Dale (& Mary) of Granite Falls, MN [Jennie (& Jeremy) Hartung, Heidi (& Micah) Jenson, Joshua (& Randi), Tammie , Seth (& Charity), Ellie (& Eric) Dubs, Cheri, Caleb, Luke, Levi ], son Dan (& Rebecca) of Chipita Park, CO [ Chad, Charissa, Candra Muncher, Chase] ? along with 33 great-grandchildren, sister Marjorie of Ohio and many nieces & nephews. Jennie was preceded in death by her parents, her son Don of Bemidji, her husband Emmett, three brothers and one sister.
