Jeanette Eleanor Chesley was born on November 29, 1920 in Montevideo, Minnesota. She was one of two children born to Samuel and Margaurite (Collins) Newstone. Jeanette was baptized on April 14, 1934 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo and confirmed her Lutheran faith at the same altar on April 29, 1934. She graduated from Montevideo High School and continued her education at St. Olaf College. On May 11, 1952, she and Walter Joseph Chesley were married at her home in Montevideo. This union was blessed with one daughter. Jeanette worked for Newstone Electric Company from the mid 1940s until 1953 and as a financial worker with Chippewa County Family Services from 1972 until her retirement in 1987. She served as Order of Eastern Star Past Worthy Matron, and as a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and American Legion Auxiliary. In her spare time, she loved to travel, sew, knit, quilt, do needlework, snowmobile, dance, swim and spend time with her family at Green Lake. On Friday morning, February 1st, Jeanette died at her daughter's home in St. Louis Park where she had lived for the past ten years. She was given the gift of life for 15 years through dialysis. She is survived by her daughter Margaurite Chesley of St. Louis Park. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Walter in 1964 and one brother, Sam Newstone, Jr. May her memory be blessed.
