Janice Marie Mitlyng, the daughter of Julian and Glenda (Quenemoen) Dvergsten was born on April 25, 1939 in Montevideo, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Watson Lutheran Church and graduated from Montevideo High School in May of 1957. On August 30, 1958, Janice was united in marriage to Jay Mitlyng at the Watson Lutheran Church. The couple had two children: Becky and Scott.
Janice worked various jobs during her life time including 25 years for the ASCS office in Montevideo, part time at Watson and Wegdahl elevators, Midstate Restaurant Supply, DJ’s, Monte Electric Motor Service, and Wash Tub Laundry.
Janice enjoyed crocheting, reading, latch hooking, her flowers, and spending time at Mill Lake Resort. Her favorite was the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Watson Lutheran Church, VFW Auxiliary for 40 years, served on the Parkview Towers Residents Board as well as care giver to her mother-in-law.
Following a courageous battle with several illnesses, at the age of 77, Janice passed away at Luther Haven on January 31st, 2017.
She is survived by her children, Becky Mitlyng of Granite Falls and Scott (Teresa) Mitlyng of Watson; her grandchildren: Stacy (Nick) Girard, Tad (Abbie) Mitlyng, Daylen Mitlyng (& Allysa), and Carson Mitlyng; great grandchildren: Callie and Christian Girard and Annabella Mitlyng; siblings: Cheryl (Scott) Monson, Dianne Oftedahl, Gale (Marj) Dvergsten, Daryl (Dianne Dvergsten, Lee (Leita) Dvergsten, Gary (Anita) Dvergsten and her half-brother Dennis (Joan) Dvergsten as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sisters Anita and Shirley, brother-in-law Mark Rongstad, half-brother Russell and granddaughter Arian Mitlyng.
