Haugland at Bergen Lutheran Church in rural Clarkfield. Janice attended District #77 Country school in Lisbon Township and then attended Clarkfield High School and graduated in June of 1939.

In September of 1944, she moved to California and continued working as a nursing assistant. Janice also served her country by working at Consolidated Aircraft, where she did riveting work for new airplanes. Not Rosy but Janice, the Riveter! Janice began working at the Granite Falls Municipal Hospital in 1958 as a nursing assistant. She retired in 1988 after 30 years of providing excellent patient care.

Janice had a great sense of humor and was fun to be around. She was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and went on a trip to Norway in 1985.
