Irene Louise Mohrman was born May 17, 1927 in Morris, Minnesota the daughter of Robert and Mettie Morrison. She passed away Sunday November 25, 2012 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo. She was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at First Federated Methodist Church in Morris. Irene grew up and attended school in Morris and graduated from Morris High School. On September 5, 1944 Irene was united in marriage to Curtis Mohrman in Morris. To this union four girls were born. The couple moved to Montevideo in 1955 and Irene cared for the house and raised the girls sewing and making their clothes. She took great pride in her sewing and was proud of her creations that included her daughter's entire wedding party's gowns, and a baptismal gown that all eight of her grandchildren have worn. Irene did alterations and sewing from her home and later worked as a seamstress at the Valet Cleaners. Before retiring, she worked at the Country Cobbler Shoe Store. Irene enjoyed bowling, dancing, and playing cards. She was a former president of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Irene is survived by her daughters: Jean (Mike) Diggins of Montevideo; Joann (Gregg) Goulson of Montevideo; Judy Winters of Eden Prairie; Janice (Ian Webster) Lang of Cypress, Texas; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother: Lawrence (Bev) Morrison of Waterloo, Iowa; and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband Curtis in 1982; parents Robert and Mettie; and sisters: Juanita, Veyon, and Awanda.
