Irene Mathilde Longworth was born June 3, 1925 in Vernon Township, Grant County, South Dakota, the daughter of Herman and Frieda Redepenning. She passed away Sunday December 8, 2013 in Montevideo at Luther Haven Nursing Home. She attained the age of 88 years.She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walter Township, Lac Qui Parle County. Irene grew up and attended school near Rosen, Odessa, and Marietta.On November 14, 1945 Irene was united in marriage to Clarence Longworth at Trinity Lutheran Church, Walter Township. To this union five children were born.Irene worked at Rosie�s Supper Club and the Mohawk Café as a waitress and a cook, and was a bookkeeper for Unger Furniture in Montevideo. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and enjoyed camping, fishing, and playing bingo. Irene loved and was very proud of her kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; she always had all the holidays and loved to have everyone stay over at her house so they could play cards.She is survived by her children: Nila (Gary) Mogard of Willmar; Cheryl (Merwin) Hoffman of Sioux Falls; Michael Longworth of Sioux Falls; Raland (Lori) Longworth of Montevideo; daughter-in-law: Zoe Ann Longworth of Minneapolis; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister: Carol (Lee) Sanders of Sioux Falls; and special nieces, nephews and cousins.In addition to her parents Herman and Frieda, Irene was preceded in death by her husband Clarence in 1987; son Russell in 1991; and a brother Harold.
