Irene Lillian Anderson was born December 29, 1926, in Granite Falls Township, Minnesota, the daughter of Andrew & Bertha Hanson. She was baptized on June 2, 1927 and confirmed on May 18, 1941, at Strombeck Lutheran Church. She attended elementary school in District #26 in Chippewa County and graduated from the Granite Falls High School in 1945.
Irene was united in marriage to Merlynn Anderson on October 15, 1960, at the Granite Falls Lutheran Church. From this marriage there were two children, Lonnie & Pam. Irene retired after 20 years in food service at the Granite Falls Schools. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and daily phone visits with family and friends. She kept busy with quilting, gardening, senior card recycling and baking. She was a member of the Granite Falls Lutheran Church and WELCA.
Irene passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at the Granite Falls Manor. She was 89 years of age.
She is survived by her children: Lonnie (Jan) Anderson of Granite Falls; Pamela (Jon) Lippert of Willmar; grandchildren: Jackson, Sawyer & Taylor Lippert; step grandchildren: Blaine & Lyndsey Weber; brother Don (Pat) Hanson of Anchorage, Alaska; sisters: Doris Monson of Madison and Florence Carlson of Shoreline, Washington; extended family, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Merlynn in 1969; in-laws: Julius & Iantha Anderson; siblings Helen Hanson, Alice (Don) Gerald; Marion (Eugene) Ellingboe; Leonard (Arlene) Hanson; brothers-in-law: Ray Carlson and Clair Monson; sister-in-law Glenace (Darold) Fredrickson; niece Charlene Brettin and an infant nephew Timothy Hanson.
