Ione Asche

Ione Bernice Asche was born on July 23, 1921 in Montevideo, Minnesota to Harm and Leila Kleene. After her marriage to John B. Asche on May 7, 1940, Ione helped him with the farming operations for the next 37 years. They were longtime members of Immanuel Lutheran Church. After their retirement, Ione and John B. kept busy painting and wall papering in the Clara City area. John B. passed away on May 4, 2003 just three days short of their 63rd wedding anniversary. Ione loved to travel to Colorado and Arizona where she visited with relatives. In addition to gardening and fishing, Ione enjoyed volunteering at the Clara City Care Center before becoming a resident there herself in June 2010. Above all, she especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.At the age of 91, on Monday, February 25th, Ione died at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital. She is survived by her sons: Bernard & MaryKay Asche of Chino Valley, Arizona and Harland & Diane Asche of Willmar; 3 daughters: Joyce Asche of Clara City, Donna & Jerry Benson of Mandan, North Dakota and Norma Dodgen of Mandan ; her sister Elda Wacek of Eugene, Oregon; 9 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 3 step-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John B., their daughter Diane Jaenisch, sons-in-law Kenny Jaenisch and Kenneth Dodgen, her sister Lois Refsland and her brother Earl Kleene.
