Idella Hazel Anderson was born March 1, 1918 in Roberts County, South Dakota the daughter of Hjalmar and Clara (Solem) Aadland. She passed away March 26, 2012 at the Granite Falls Municipal Hospital.Baptized in the Lutheran faith, Idella was confirmed on October 25, 1931 at Bergen Lutheran Church in Stony Run Township. She began her elementary education in rural District #4 and #16 through the 8th grade and went on to graduate from Granite Falls High School. During those years, she worked for relatives and neighbors during weekends and the summers whenever she was needed. On December 29, 1936 Idella was united in marriage to Earl Anderson at Bergen Lutheran Church. To this union four children were born. Idella and Earl made their home on a farm in Stony Run Township where she raised their children and cared for the house. After selling the farm, the couple moved to Granite Falls where Idella worked as head bookkeeper and assistant cashier at Granite Falls Bank for 18 years. She spent the next six years working part time at First Federal Savings and Loan in Granite Falls.She sang in the Bergen Lutheran Church Choir and High School Glee Club, was a member of the Sons of Norway, and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Idella taught Sunday school for 18 years, was active in Global Missions, Mission in Action and Altar Guild. She has been a member of the ELCA since 1944. Idella enjoyed dancing and playing cards at the senior center, and especially enjoyed traveling. She and Earl traveled through 32 states and she continued to travel through much of Europe during her retirement.She is survived by her sons: Roger (Marilyn) Anderson of Floodwood, Minnesota; Wayne (Jeanette) Anderson of Granite Falls; Roland (Rosemary) Anderson of Little Rock, Arkansas; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; ten nieces and nephews;Idella was preceded in death by her husband Earl in 1978; daughter Harriet in infancy; parents Hjalmar and Clara; brother: Percy Aadland; sisters: Luella (Arnold) Wilson, Florence (John) Roe; sister-in-law Joy Aadland; grandson-in-law: Daniel Grund; niece Lynn Ness and nephew Rick Roe.
