Idell Meints

Idell Lyona Meints was born August 7, 1934, the daughter of Harm & Lucille DeGrote in Crate Township, Chippewa County. She was baptized on August 26, 1934 and confirmed on May 22, 1948, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. Idell attended District 42 Country School and then graduated from the Clara City High School. Idell was united in marriage to Orville Meints on February 19, 1956, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed working and being with people. She was employed with several local cafes, PJs Drive Inn, Brix Drug Store, MACCRAY High Schools, and MargaretÂ?s Cafe. She loved being a homemaker, cooking and baking. She was happiest when she was making pies, caramel rolls and potato salad for her family. She also enjoyed reading, sewing and watching game shows. Idell was very active at church and was involved in many activities including quilting, serving in the womenÂ?s circle, WELCA, Sunday School Superintendent Assistant and helping with the newsletter. Idell passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at her home in Clara City. She was 76 years of age.She is survived by her husband Orville; four children: Kathy (Gary) Wolf of Norwood Young America; Curt (Diane) Meints of New London; Julie (Tim) Hauser of Norwood Young America and Nancy (Loren) Gosseling of Maynard; ten grandchildren: Jamie (Jeff) Fernholz; Stacie (Nate) Rademacher; Jenny (Clint) Schwitters; Melissa (Heidi) Wolf; Ryan (Nicole) Meints; Matt Wolf; Josh Hauser; Megan Hauser, Isaac Gosseling and Andrew Gosseling; nine great grandchildren: Kenzie & Brooklyn Fernholz; Alexis, Makayla & Aubrey Rademacher; Kaley, Kelsey & Connor Schwitters and Caden Meints; sister Alva Mae Nelson of Montevideo; brother Dennis (Lorraine) DeGrote of Clara City; and several extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harm and Lucille and her brother Dale.
