Ida Viola Augeson was born on September 23, 1925, in Halstad, Minnesota, the daughter of Ludvig and Esther Norum. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Halstad Lutheran Church and graduated from Halstad High School in 1944. Ida was employed at numerous businesses including Red River Valley Co-op Light & Power Association in Halstad, Park & Macalester Drug Store and the War Defense Factory in St. Paul, the Black & White Café and the National Tea Grocery Store in Montevideo. On November 23, 1946, Ida was united in marriage to Walter Augeson in the Our Savior's Lutheran Church parsonage in Montevideo. She assisted Walter in their farming operation northeast of Montevideo for 31 years, retiring in 1977.Ida enjoyed taking trips all around the country with Walter. She also enjoyed canning the produce from their garden and loved to play the accordion. She was a faithful member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and participated in Bible study classes and volunteered her time in the nursery on Sunday mornings. Ida worked hard all of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was called from this life on Wednesday evening, September 25, 2013, at Home Front First in Montevideo. She was 88 years of age.Surviving family include her four sons- Darrell (& Marilynn) Augeson of Montevideo, Richard Augeson of Park Rapids, Wallace (& Glenice) Augeson of Lynd, and Ronald (& Kathy) of Montevideo; 10 grandchildren- Darren Augeson, Angela Anderson, Renee Minnerath, Ryan Augeson, Danielle Wilts, Brady Augeson, Shane Augeson, Shannon Struck, Lyndsi Meier and Jesse Galuk; 22 great grandchildren; sister Helen Eckstrom of St. Paul; brothers Russell Norum of Pierre, SD and Richard Norum of Florida; sisters-in-law Violet Haff of Montevideo and Virginia Boraas of Dawson; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.Ida was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Walter (in 2002); her son Ray (in 2001) and several brothers & sisters.
