Born December 31, 1921 in Richville, MN to Jacob and Amelia Rusch, Hilda Annie Haugen was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Richville, and later confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dent, MN. She died at the Granite Falls Hospital in the early morning hours of Monday, November 23, 2009 at the age of 87.Hilda attended Dent Elementary School and graduated from Perham High School and from Business College. She worked in the accounting division of Gamble Skogmo in Minneapolis, for Senator Harold Hagen in Washington DC, for Schreiberg CPA, and for Copeland and Buhl CPA, both in Minneapolis. She continued tax preparation and accounting at home after moving to Maynard. Hilda married John DeKoning in 1944. On June 6, 1965 she was united in marriage to Vernon Haugen at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. She and Vernon farmed until retirement. Hilda was an active member of Immanuel and Wang Lutheran churches. She was treasurer of Wang for several years and held several positions of the Wang ELCA. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, craft work, traveling and calling on family and friends.She is survived by her daughter Margaret Evans (Norman Evans) of Atlanta, GA; her step-daughter Verlyn Aeikens (Lynn Aeikens) of Maynard, MN; her six grandchildren: Debra Stolp, Kathy Reese (Kenny Reese), Shelly Stolp, Kristine Salzwedel (Chad Salzwedel), Jason Aeikens (Kristen Aeikens), and Josh Aeikens (Lindsay Hildman); her great-grandchilden: Amber Stolp (Jason Theriot), Aiyana Aeikens, Emily Reese, Kate Salzwedel, Haley Reese, Rainer Aeikens, Zach Salzwedel, Dahlia Aeikens. Hilda was preceded in death by husband Vernon Haugen, parents Amelia and Jacob Rusch; sister Alice Rusch, brother Edwin Rusch, sisters-in-law Sylvia Child, Lillie Fagen, Dorothy Rusch, brother-in-law Joseph Haugen.
