Herman Edward Warrings, Jr., was born on January 11, 1931, in Clara City, MN, the son of Herman and Bertha Warrings. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at St. Clara Catholic Church in Clara City, of which he was a lifelong, faithful member. He graduated from the Clara City high School and attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, MN for cylinder press operation.Herman proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1955 and following his honorable discharge, returned home to Clara City to begin lifelong employment with the Clara City Herald newspaper. While employed at the Herald, Herman filled many positions, most notably type setter and sports writer. He set up many a funeral memorial folder during his days at the paper.Herman was a kind, gentle man who enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, singing and visiting with people in the Clara City Community. He was always cheerful and quick to pay a person a compliment. Herman was active in many of Clara City's community affairs and was a 58 year member of the Clara City American Legion Post # 485.After selling his home, Herman resided for a time in the Community Haus Apartments and for the past 4 years, had been a resident of the Clara City Care Center. He died there, peacefully, on the morning of Oct. 29, 2011, at the age of 80 years.Herman is survived by nieces & nephews- Greg Warrings, Diane Hilton, Leedell Warrings and Burnell Riccatone; His sister-in-law Annie Warrings and extended family.He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers- Clarence, Andrew & Bernard.
