Henry Joseph Faiman was born March 17, 1925, the son of Joseph & Bessie (Hosek) Faiman on a farm south of Olivia, Minnesota. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith. He attended country school near Olivia. Following his education Henry served his country in the United States Army during World War II, spending time in Japan and Hawaii. He was honorably discharged in 1945. He returned to the family farm and worked alongside his father.
Henry met the love of his life, Betty Melvold, at a dance one night. They were united in marriage on September 9, 1951, at Granite Falls Lutheran Church. They remained on the family farm until they moved to Granite Falls in 1960. Henry went to work for Rodger’s Hydraulic as a tool and die maker. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends at Lake Mary, playing cards and going fishing.
Henry passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at the Granite Falls Hospital. He was 94 years of age.
He is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Susan (Richard) Chambers of Sandpoint, Idaho and his son Rick (Mary) Faiman of Shoreview; three grandchildren: Christopher Chambers, Jessica (Josh) Foss and Lisa Faiman; and two great grandchildren: Brody and Brennan Foss; one sister Margie (Kenneth) Kottom of Columbia Heights and several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marion and brother Jerry.
