Helen Rear

Helen Mildred Rear was born on March 1, 1930, in Milan, MN, the daughter of Ole and Clara (Struxness) Hoaas. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan, attended country school and high school in Milan. On July 16, 1950, Helen was united in marriage to Roger Rear, also at Kviteseid Lutheran Church.
Helen and Roger made their home in Montevideo where Roger ran a recreation and automobile repair business. She and Roger loved music and enjoyed going out dancing. Helen was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a sweet and kind woman with a beautiful smile who loved spending time with her family. She was a member of the Montevideo VFW Auxiliary and the Montevideo American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo.
On the evening of Wednesday May 11, 2016, Helen was called from this life while a resident of Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo. She was 86 years of age.
Surviving family include her daughters- Claire Marsh of Maplewood, MN, Linda (Gary) Cliplef of Poway, CA and Vickie (Gerald) Rooda of Willmar, MN; her son- Scott Rear of Spicer, MN; grandchildren- Candice Nelson, Carissa Marsh, Krista (Josh) Mello, John Cliplef, Lee (Ana) Rooda, Nick (Kelsey) Rooda, Ross (Jenna) Rooda, Jake (Jenna) Rooda and Shelby (Ryan) Schleusner; great grandchildren- Paige Nelson, Preston Nelson, Parker Nelson, Jasper Marsh, Brandon Mello, Madison Mello, Latham Rooda, Lachlan Rooda, Elody Rooda, Emilia Rooda, Kiera Rooda, Colton Rooda, and Sadie Schleusner; sisters: Gladys Wagner, Florence Barnes, Della Schneider; brother Oscar ‘Ike’ Hoaas; nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, siblings- Lillian Gjerset, Clarice Harlow, Olga Torgerson, Alice Molden and John Hoaas; one great grandson- Paxton Nelson.
