Harvey John Bendix was born to John and Anna Bendix on July 6, 1920 at their farm home in rural Henning, Minnesota. He was baptized July 25, 1920 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Henning. Harvey was confirmed on June 7, 1936 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Deer Creek, Minnesota.He spent his growing up years on farms located near Henning and Echo, Minnesota. He spent one year at Dunwoody Technical Institute in Minneapolis, studying auto mechanics. Harvey married Ida Pochardt on December 12, 1948 at Christ Lutheran Church in Marshall, Minnesota. They lived and farmed near Echo, Minnesota for several years. He began with horses and later his beloved John Deere tractors. In 1958, they moved the family to Boyd where they farmed until Harvey retired in 1984. From there, they moved to Granite Falls and in February 2006, their final move to a new townhome in Montevideo. He enjoyed spending time on his computer. Harvey was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He never complained about his personal physical limitations and was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Harvey was called from this life in the evening hours of Sunday March 1, 2009 at Luther Haven Nursing Home. He was 88 years of age.Harvey is survived by his wife, Ida of Montevideo; their three children: Beverly (Marshall) Herfindahl of Boyd, Connie (Daniel) Schmid of Stillwater, and Larry (Sue) Bendix of Boyd; six grandchildren: Eston (Tamar) Herfindahl, Angela Schmid, Tamsen (Christopher) Schmid Barrett, Arie Herfindahl, John Bendix and Lindsey Bendix; 1 great-grandchild: Morgan (Eston) Herfindahl; one brother Harold Bendix, sister Bernice DuPree and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Anna Bendix, sisters: Norma Smith, Esther Veden, Doretta Leider, and Bernadeen Erdman; and brothers: Gerhardt (Gay) and Virgil.
