Harry Otto Burthus was born in rural Cottonwood on October 29, 1926, the son of Otto & Mary (Ree) Burthus. He graduated from the Granite Falls High School. Harry served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on April 29, 1947. He returned to Granite Falls where he was a Foreman for Rogers and later operated an automotive repair shop until his retirement. Harry was united in marriage to Darlene Siverhus on July 17, 1950, in Montevideo. Harry was a devoted husband and father. He was a member of the Granite Falls American Legion and the Granite Falls Veterans of Foreign Wars. Harry passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2012, at the Clara City Care Center. He was 85 years of age. He is survived by his son Allan (Debra) of Granite Falls; grandsons: Adam of St. Paul and Ryan of Little Canada; sister Carol Hirmer of Marshall and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, one sister and his wife Darlene in 1999.
