Harold Fred Jaenisch was born on October 22, 1918, the son of Fred and Mary (Teichert) Jaenisch in Crate Township, Chippewa County. He was baptized and confirmed in faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City and attended country school at District 3 through the 8th grade. Harold was united in marriage with Marie Elsie Rhode on November 26, 1945. This union blessed them with six children: Kathleen, Leslie, Lyle, Lois, LeRoy and Marvin. Harold and Marie raised their children on their family farm. They farmed together until 1987 when they retired and moved to their home in Clara City. Harold raised livestock including cattle, hogs and chickens. He enjoyed spending time with his children, especially being involved in the Chippewa County 4-H program. Harold became a faithful member of St. Clara’s Catholic Church in 1979. Harold enjoyed old time dancing, fishing, gardening, canning and playing cards with family and friends. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and celebrating their special milestones. Harold become a resident of Prairie Park Place in 2012 and moved to the Clara City Care Center in 2015, where he passed away on March 31, 2016 at the age of 97 years. As a resident at the Care Center he enjoyed many social activities including BINGO and cards. He is survived by five children: Kathleen (& Bert) Bauer of Stewart, Lyle (& Mollie) Jaenisch of Granite Falls, Lois (& Mark) Fokken of Lakeville, LeRoy (& Gwen) Jaenisch of Clara City and Marvin (& Candice) Jaenisch of Maynard; one daughter-in-law Donna Leese of Maynard; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one brother Gordon (& MaryAnn) Jaenisch of Maynard; and sister-in-law Clara Kelly of New Hope, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marie in 2002; son Leslie in 1978; three brothers, Carl, Dan and Art; and two sisters, Augusta Zimmer and Lillian Rhode.
