Gordon Regnier

Gordon George "Gordy" Regnier was born on Tuesday, June 26, 1928 in Redwood Falls, MN, the son of Robert H. and Marie Regnier. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Redwood Falls and attended elementary school and high school in Redwood Falls. Gordy began working for Montgomery Ward in Redwood Falls in 1946 and in 1950, began work for Larson's Home Furnishings in Redwood Falls. Gordy served his country initially in the National Guard Unit in Redwood Falls and was mustered into the regular Army in January of 1951 during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in May of 1952 as a sergeant. On September 6, 1952, Gordy was united in marriage to Lois K. McKay at Holy Redeemer Church in Marshall, MN. In 1961, he was promoted to manager of Larson's Home Furnishings in Marshall. Following his retirement in 1991, Gordy continued to work part time at Larson's for 10 years. He enjoyed his career with Larson's immensely and dedicated a total of 50 years employment to the firm. In 2004, he and Lois moved from Marshall to Montevideo. Gordy was a hard working man who loved spending time with his family, traveling, golfing, studying Civil War History and visiting many battle fields. He was a member of the American Legion and served as President of Marshall Chamber of Commerce and as a former member of Knights of Columbus. Gordy enjoyed watching the Minnesota Gophers basketball team, the Vikings, the Twins, the University of Notre Dame football team and never missed watching the Kentucky Derby. He enjoyed the morning coffee at Trailways Café and seldom missed a Tuesday afternoon meeting of the Korean and World War II Veterans Club at the American Legion. On Saturday afternoon, November 28, 2009, while in the loving presence of family, Gordy was peacefully called from this life at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo, MN. He was 81 years of age. He is survived by his wife Lois of Montevideo; his children- Cheryl (& Jim) Curtiss of Montevideo, Barb Regnier of Brooklyn Park, Mark (& Pat) Regnier of Neenah, WI; and Paul (& Lisa) Regnier of Topeka, KS; 8 grandchildren- Justin Curtiss, Randy (& Kristi) Curtiss, Jordan Curtiss, Casey Regnier, Jamie Regnier, Jake Regnier, Jolie Regnier and Jaycie Regnier; great grandsons- Brody Curtiss and Caden Curtiss. Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother- Bob.
