Gordon Henslin

August 13, 1930 — March 17, 2014

Gordon Carl Henslin was born in Lone Tree Township on August 13, 1930, the son of Carl & Jennie (Gerdes) Henslin. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On September 17, 1952, he was united in marriage to Violet Hanson and they had four children. They were married for 61 years. Gordy attended country school a quarter mile away and graduated from the eighth grade. When his father passed away in 1944, Gordy started farming at an early age of fourteen years old and continued by himself until 1959. His days were filled with hard work. His brother Vernon joined him in farming and they worked together for several years. In 1971, his son Bryan joined the farming operation and they farmed together until Gordy retired at the age of 62. Following his retirement Gordy continued to do what he loved best?..farming. He was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Gordy enjoyed woodworking and tinkering with small motors. He loved the outdoors, visiting with people and having coffee. Gordy was called from this life at the age of 83 years on Wednesday evening March 12, 2014, at the Clara City Care Center. Gordy is survived by his wife Violet, son Bryan (Jen) Henslin of Granite Falls; sisters: Muriel Reiners of Clara City and Marlys Reetz of Maple Grove; brother Vernon of Willmar and many nieces and nephews. Gordy was preceded in death by his parents, three children at birth, grandson Chad Henslin, sister-in-law Paulette and brothers-in-law Donald and Arvid.
