Gloria Johnson, 95, of Montevideo, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Luther Haven Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022, at 1:00 pm at Big Bend Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Gloria Margaret Tvedt Johnson was born November 28, 1926, the daughter of Ruben & Hanstina (Schuerer) Golden in West Bank Township, Swift County. She was baptized on February 2, 1927, at Big Bend Lutheran Church and confirmed at Mandt Church on June 8, 1942. She attended District #54 Country School
Gloria was united in marriage to Oliver Tvedt on January 2, 1945, in Montevideo. Together they raised a family and farmed. Oliver passed away in February of 1980. She met Bernard “Wimpy” Johnson and they were united in marriage on October 17, 1981, at Big Bend Lutheran Church. During their marriage they remodeled two houses and a lake place. They traveled a lot and spent their Winters in Texas. Wimpy passed away in January of 2007.
Gloria enjoyed playing cards, bingo, sewing, quilting, having coffee with friends and collecting dolls and windchimes. She loved her children and cherished her time spent with her grandchildren.
Gloria passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Luther Haven Nursing Home, with her granddaughter Arianne by her side. She was 95 years of age.
She is survived by her children: Jerry (Ember) Tvedt of The Villages, Florida and Debra Cole of Milan; grandchildren: Tara, Jill, Mike & Arianne; great grandchildren: Quinn & Courtney, Lucas, Tripp & Carson Oliver, great great grandchild Aiden; step children: Carol Norman, Bev Knutson, Lois Bordwell, Steve Johnson, Julie Olson and Rick Johnson; step grandchildren: Todd, Randy, Chad, Jon, Chris, Toni, Erin, Andi, Jenay, Tera, Derek, Devin, Cali, Dori, Tylor and Olivia; sister Mary Ann Weckwerth and several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Oliver and Wimpy, son Dale, daughter Barbara, brother Raymond and sons-in-law Jeff Cole and Dick Ogren.
