Gloria Jacobson was born August 17, 1924 to Arne and Eva Skjelset in Griggs County North Dakota. She attended the Skjelset Country School through eighth grade and then enrolled in the Cooperstown High School, graduating in the class of 1941. She attended North Dakota State University in Fargo, graduating in 1945 with a degree to teach Home Economics. She taught Home Economics in Twin Valley, MN for two years before coming to teach at the Montevideo, MN High School. On November 12, 1949, she was united in marriage to Stanley Jacobson of rural Maynard. She resigned from teaching in 1950, deciding to become a homemaker. To this union, three children were born: Michael, Linda and Steven. Gloria served as the organist at Saron Lutheran Church for 40 years, choir director for several years, and was active in the Saron Ladies Aid. She also participated in her local Chippewa County Extension Homemakers club, served as a 4-H leader for the Granite Go-Getters 4-H club when her children were young and was a member of TOPS. She loved sewing, baking, dancing and music. Gloria passed away on June 22, 2012 after a long battle with AlzheimerÂ?s Disease. She is survived by her husband Stanley, sister Arlene Drablos of Champaign, IL, children, Mike (Nancy) Jacobson of Rockville, MD, Linda (Bill Warner) of River Falls, WI, and Steve (Karen) Jacobson of Maynard, grandchildren Katie and Mark Jacobson of Rockville, MD, Kaija, Erik and John Warner of River Falls WI, and Scott (Michelle May) Jacobson of Maynard, and Thomas Jacobson of Granite Falls. Family requests that memorials be designated to Saron Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer's Association for Alzheimer's research.
