Glenvy Lemke

August 9, 1926 — October 11, 2010

Glenvy Fred Lemke was born on August 9, 1926, in Vesta, MN, the son of Henry and Thurina Lemke. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and moved with his family to a farm in Sioux Agency Township, Yellow Medicine County, MN at the age of four. He attended country school and graduated in 1944 from high school in Wood Lake, MN.Glenvy enlisted in the United States Army in 1945 and saw action in Germany during WWII. Upon his honorable discharge, Glenvy began work in North Dakota and then moved to Marshall, MN where he was employed by Smith Sodding Company. On February 10, 1962, he was united in marriage to Ramona Drengson. Glenvy and Ramona resided in Sacred Heart, MN and he was employed by Plews manufacturing Company in Granite Falls for 23 years, retiring in 1990. He had recently moved to Henry Hill Apartments in Granite Falls, following his wife's passing. Glenvy enjoyed visiting with his family and friends. He loved to camp, go fishing and put together puzzles. He was called from this life while a patient at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in St. Cloud, MN, on Wednesday evening, October 6, 2010. He was 84 years of age. Surviving family include his brother Kermit Lemke of Granite Falls, MN; a brother-in-law Jim Drengson of Sparks, NV and several nieces & nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ramona (in 2009); one brother and one sister.
