Glen Olson

Glen Odean Olson was born on March 14, 1922 in Sioux Agency Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota to Olaf and Guro Olson. He was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at Rock Valley Lutheran Church. Glen attended school in the Sioux Agency Township in a one room school house. He grew up on the family farm in the Minnesota River Valley near Echo, MN. Glen served his country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. Glen then returned to the Granite Falls area and worked construction. He met Roma Jane Solem and they were united in marriage on June 24, 1951 at the Granite Falls Lutheran Church. They made their home in Granite Falls, MN, where they raised their three sons and operated the Glen Olson Insurance Agency for 30 years. After retirement, they resided in Las Vegas, NV. Glen enjoyed golfing, hunting, bowling, fishing, gardening, many hours of card playing and spending time with his family. He was also a member of the American Legion. When they moved to Las Vegas, Glen was the grounds keeper for the complex where they lived and especially enjoyed tending to the roses. Glen passed away on Friday, June 8, 2012 at his home in Las Vegas, NV.He is survived by his two sons Curt (Nancy) Olson of South Haven, MN, Eric (Linda) Olson of Las Vegas, NV, sister-in-law Verna Olson of Echo, MN, sister-in-law Evie Olson, Omaha, NE,grandsons Shawn, Jordan and Austin and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Roma (deceased 09-02-05), son Scott Olson (deceased 02-19-07) and siblings Owen, Thelmer (as a young child), Thelmer (Babe), Roy, Odella, Gladys and Marvin (Swede).
