Gladys Vetter

Gladys Viola Vetter was born August 31, 1919 in Chippewa County rural Montevideo, Minnesota, the daughter of Paul and Christine Vetter. She passed away Monday June 8, 2009 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo, Minnesota. She attained the age of 89 years.Gladys was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at St. John's Lutheran Church in Chippewa County. She received her elementary education in rural Grace Township country school. After graduating from Benson High School with the class of 1936 she attended Business College in Minneapolis.Gladys worked as a secretary for General Mills Foods in Minneapolis until her retirement in 1981. She moved to Montevideo in 2001 and became a resident at Luther Haven Nursing Home in 2002.Gladys was a member of Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis where she taught Sunday school and worked in the church nursery.She was a very dedicated Minnesota Twins fan for many years and loved to walk and visit with friends.Gladys is survived by her sister, Orla Erickson of Madison, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Christine; brothers: Lloyd and Herbert Vetter; and sisters: Alphid and Petra Vetter, and Vera Bamonte.
