Gladys Degrote

Gladys Etheline DeGrote was born on November 24, 1917, in Pipestone, MN, the daughter of Fred J. and Lottie Jane (Pollack) Binnebose. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. John's Lutheran Church in Raymond, MN and attended high school in Raymond. On August 1, 1937, Gladys was united in marriage to John "Jack" DeGrote at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. Jack passed away in 1972 and during her active years, Gladys was employed at Brix Drug Store, DeJong Fairway and the Clara City Care Center. She was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and belonged to the Garden Club and Card Club.On Thursday morning, March 29, 2012, Gladys was called peacefully from this life while a resident of the Clara City Care Center. She was 94 years of age.She is survived by her children- Stanley DeGrote of Maricopa, AZ, Curtis DeGrote of Willmar, and Peggy Cadwell of Alexandria; her grandchildren- Jeff DeGrote, Josh Cadwell, Justin DeGrote, Stephanie Brock and Sheila DeGrote. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jack; her son Lowell; brothers- Leslie Binnebose, Clarence Binnebose & Lawrence Binnebose; sisters- Viola Reiners & Alice Severson.
