Gertrude Boike

December 4, 1923 — March 2, 2014

Gertrude Daline Boike, the daughter of Eilert and Antina Grussing, was born in Germany on December 4, 1923. She learned to walk on the ship as her family moved to the United States. She was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was united in marriage to Louis C. Boike on March 31, 1942 in Clara City. Gertrude worked out of the home at Jennie-O Foods and later worked for the USDA as a poultry inspector. She enjoyed playing cards, quilting and crocheting. She was well known for her fried chicken, apple pie and peanut brittle. She always looked forward to spending time with her family at Lake Darling. Gertrude passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2014, at the Clara City Care Center. She was 90 years of age. She is survived by her three daughters: Judy (Ernie) Morgan of Brooklyn Park, Bonnie (Gary) Williams of Willmar and Marcia (Larry) Hanson of Clara City; eight grandchildren: Dawn (Mike) Bradley of Brooklyn Park, Pamela Bilich of Champlin, Scott (Lori) Williams of Montevideo, Marc (Shawna)Williams of Brainerd, Matthew (Janell) Williams of Willmar, Katie (Brett) Bergh of Moorhead, Chris (Sharon) Hanson of Lakeville and Eric (Meredith) Hanson of Minneapolis; 19 great grandchildren: Blake Bilich, Jake & Ryan Bradley, Jacob Knapper, Avery & Andrew Williams, Wyatt, Jackson & Tucker Williams, Mya & Callie Williams, Luke & Beckett Bergh, Kassidy, Kourtney & Kayla Hanson, Henry, Soren & Ingrid Hanson; siblings: Tena Tomes, Edna Kleene, Daniel (Doris) Grussing; Henrietta Hagemeyer and Gordon (Geneva) Grussing all of Clara City and Eunice (Vernon) Onnen of Willmar. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and great grandson Ethan Williams.
