Geraldine Groothuis

Geraldine Marie Groothuis was born March 6, 1944 in Minneapolis, MN at the Swedish Hospital, the only child of Lucille (Eddy) Enstrom. Geri was baptized on March 1, 1957 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo and also confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church on May 10, 1959. She attended school in Montevideo, graduating from Montevideo High School on June 6, 1962. Geri was united in marriage to Kent Groothuis on June 15, 1962, at Our Savior’s Church in Montevideo. Three children were born to this union: Jodi, Julie, and Jeff.
In 1973, Kent and Geri moved their family to Appleton and in 1993, they moved back to Montevideo. She worked many jobs including the Fox-Wood Inn, VFW, and J & J Amoco in Appleton and in Montevideo, she worked at Innovex and REM Health Care Providers.
Geri passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital due to complication of a heart attack. She was 71 years old.
She is survived by her 3 children: daughter Jodi Bratland and son in-law Lon Bratland; daughter Julie Groothuis; son Jeff Groothuis and daughter- in-law Elizabeth Groothuis; 4 grandchildren: granddaughters Hope Bratland, Jeanne Groothuis, and Janell Groothuis; and grandson Levi Bratland; 3 aunts: Eve Eddy, Claire Eddy, and Betty Christians; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kent Groothuis in 2008, mother Lucille Eddy Enstrom, step-father Les Enstrom, grandparents Erwin and Matilda Eddy, uncles Jim Eddy, Erwin Eddy, Roger Eddy, Lowell Clark, aunt Ethel Clark and her cousin Bob Eddy.
