Gerald Pieper

January 15, 1927 — July 3, 2008

Gerald Otto Pieper was born on January 15, 1927, on a farm near Clara City the son of Herbert and Lena Pieper. Gerald served his country during the Korean Conflict from 1951 ? 1953. Upon his honorable discharge, Gerald returned to the Clara City area and farmed all of his remaining years. In 1989, Gerald married Loretta (Koenen) Jaenisch. She passed away in 2006. Gerald was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City and served as president of the Church Council and also taught Sunday school. He was also active on numerous local boards, including the Clara City Telephone Company Board, the Clara City Farmer's Coop Oil Co. Board and the Renville Coop Transport Association Board. In the early morning hours of Thursday, July 3, 2008, Gerald died peacefully while a resident of the Mission Nursing Home in Plymouth, MN. He was 81 years of age. Surviving family include his brother- Harlan (& Alberta) Pieper; sisters- Elaine Johnson, Doris (& James) Schei and Lorraine (& Milo) Peterson; two step daughters- Terri Jaenisch and Judy Best; 3 step grandchildren- Mindi, Meagan & Zach and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and an infant brother.
