George Ryman

January 21, 1926 — August 25, 2008

George was born on January 21, 1926, in Montevideo, MN, the son of Harry and Lillian Ryman. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo and graduated from high school in Montevideo. He then attended State Teacher's College in Maryville, MD.George proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Navy, from 1943 ? 1946, seeing action in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. Upon his honorable discharge, George returned to Montevideo where he was united in marriage to Mary Louise Himle at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He was employed by the Milwaukee Railroad for 40 years and worked on the Minnesota Zephyr Dinner Train. George loved his work with the railroad and enjoyed golfing until back surgery in 2002 forced him to retire his clubs. He was a devoted husband and loving father. He enjoyed visiting with his family and socializing with his many friends and acquaintances. During his active years in Montevideo, George was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and belonged to the Masons and local Shriners fraternal organization.On Wednesday afternoon, August 20, 2008, George was called from this life, the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Chisago, MN. He was 82 years of age.Surviving family include his wife- Mary, of St. Louis Park, MN; his children- John Ryman of Long Island, NY, Steve Ryman of Wayne, IL, Sally Ryman of Mounds View, MN and Fred Ryman also of Mounds View, MN; two sisters- Marylynn Johnson of Anoka, MN and Barb Altringer of Anoka, MN; two brothers- Dick (& Nancy) Ryman of Montevideo, MN and Jim (& Phyllis) Ryman of Anoka, MN; 3 sisters-in law, Hermoine Kuno (Himle) of Montevideo, MN, Jeannie Himle of Clarkston, WA and Kathy (& & Gordy) Gilsrud of LaCrescent, MN; two brothers-in-law, Dick Himle of Aberdeen, SD and Dale (& Millie) Himle of Marietta, GA; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
