George Jaenisch, age 84, of Clara City died Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at the Clara City Care Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Clara Catholic Church in Clara City with interment following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, from 9:00 – 11:00 AM, two hours prior to the service at the church.
George James Jaenisch was born on March 8, 1938 Clara City, Minnesota, the son of Charles and Elizabeth (Schaack) Jaenisch. George attended St. Clara Catholic School up until the 8th grade and then went to Clara City High School graduating in 1957. In the summers George worked for George Wachlter. After graduation he worked at the Varity Store Company (VSC) for over 26 years. He later worked in maintenance as the custodian for Clara City Care Center.
During those years George met Ann Murphy and they were married on October 29, 1976 in Willmar, Minnesota. At that time he became a step-father to Daniel Schoen and he loved Dan very much. George was not one to verbally share his feelings but the love and care he had for all the family was evident in his actions.
George loved his community of Clara City. His focus in life was to give back and to do what needed to be done. This is evident in all the organizations that he was a part of. George was a member of St. Clara Catholic Church all his life. He was an usher there and headed up the annual fund raiser with Ann. George was deeply honored to receive the Bishops Medal along with Ann. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Clara and the Clara City Fire Department for over 25 years, ending as the fire chief for 5 years. George was also a member of the Clara City Lions Club, received the Melvin Jones Fellow award.
George is survived by his wife, Ann; son, Daniel Schoen; grandchildren, Adalyn and Wyatt Schoen; brother, Paul (Sandy) Jaenisch; sisters-in-law, Christa Jaenisch, Valerie Jaenisch; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Joann (Arnie) Suter, Jean Persaud, Peg Walsh; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
George is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elizabeth Jaenisch; siblings, Clarence Jaenisch, Vincent Jaenisch, Greg Jaenisch, Charles Jaenisch, Ervin Jaenisch, Delores Emmens, Betty Lovhaug, Mary Schlagel, Gene Jaenisch, Bill Jaenisch, John Jaenisch, Danny Jaenisch
