Gayle Johnson

Gayle Ethalyn Johnson was born August 13, 1917 in Marysville, Iowa the daughter of John and Lillian Metz. She passed away December 9, 2013 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo. She attained the age of 96 years.She grew up in Iowa and attended school in Des Moines, Clear Lake, and graduated from Lamoni High School.On December 31, 1935 Gayle was united in marriage to Walter Johnson in Kansas City, Missouri, this union was blessed with a daughter. In 1945 they moved to Frankfort, South Dakota to live on the Johnson family farm.Gayle was a 4-H leader for ten years and an active member of the Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, and Daughters of the Nile.She is survived by her daughter Mary (Mike) Spain of Montevideo; granddaughters: Beth (Bill) Lovdahl, Dawn Spain, Michele (Dan) Walstad; great grandchildren: Brittney and Cole Lovdahl, Amy Pfeifer, Ryan and Nathan Walstad; one niece and three nephews, and special friend Glennis Jorgenson.Gayle was preceded in death by her husband Walter, parents: John and Lillian; and a sister: Jeanne Dicker.
