Gary Howard Flinn was born February 4, 1943, in Montevideo, the son of Howard and Katherine Flinn. He passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at the St. Cloud Hospital. He was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Montevideo and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1961. Gary continued his education at the University of Minnesota before returning to Montevideo to go into business with his family at Flinn's Salvage. On June 6, 1970, Gary was united in marriage to Betty Slater at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart. To this union a son Jason was born. He expanded the business by opening Flinn Iron and Metal. In 1991, Gary opened Inn Like Flinns and later started Inn Like Flinns in Hancock and Belview. Gary was a Vikings fan and enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas for vacation. Gary is survived by his son: Jason Flinn (Jenny Fairbanks) of St. Paul; brothers: Donald (Cheryl) Flinn of Aberdeen, SD; Greg (Jane) Flinn of Montevideo; Dallas Flinn of Montevideo and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents- Howard and Katherine Flinn; an infant sister- Kathy Ann Flinn and a brother Jeff Flinn Sr. Memorials preferred to the Chippewa County Food Shelf.
