Galen L. Skjefte

Galen Lowell Skjefte was born August 28, 1928 in Sacred Heart, Minnesota the son of Rudolph and Laura (Gilbertson) Skjefte. He passed away May 1, 2016 at Albion Senior Living in Montevideo. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and grew up in the Sacred Heart area. On June 8, 1952, Galen was united in marriage to LaBonna Imes at Hawk Creek Lutheran Church, rural Sacred Heart. To this union five children were born. Galen was a lifelong farmer who enjoyed spending time on the farm. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren in activities such as deer hunting, camping and playing games. He served as treasurer for Stony Run Township for 28 years and was a member of the Farmers Union.
He is survived by his wife LaBonna Skjefte of Granite Falls; children: Paulette (Dr. Dean) Lindquist of Spicer; David (Valerie) Skjefte of Granite Falls; Jim (Mary Jo) Skjefte of Granite Falls; Alan (Stacy) Skjefte of Eden Prairie; Galen I. Skjefte Jr. of Granite Falls; 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Galen was preceded in death by his parents Rudolph and Laura Skjefte, siblings: Marjorie Aakre, Donald Skjefte, Delores Gunderson, Ruth Pederson, Mildred Washburn, Willard Skjefte, and baby Phyllis in infancy.
