Frances Lucille Priebe was born on March 25, 1927, the daughter of Hjalmer and Millie (Biegert) Tweter in Montevideo, Minnesota. She was born two months early and was told that she fit in a shoebox and that her mother’s wedding ring would slide over her foot. She was baptized and confirmed in her faith at Strombeck Lutheran Church rural Montevideo. While growing up she enjoyed singing with her sister and playing church organ. Frances attended school in Montevideo and graduated in 1945. She worked for Northern States Power Company as a secretary.
Frances was united in marriage to Lloyd Priebe on September 27, 1953 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo. The couple made their home on the Priebe family farm near Maynard. They were blessed with four children, Deanne, David, Kent and Karen.
Frances embraced the role of ‘farmer’s wife’ and supported Lloyd in the daily responsibilities the farm entailed. They were faithful members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City where she enjoyed volunteering with WELCA and the quilting group. Frances was a 4-H leader, a member of the local homemaker’s club and also a Montevideo sewing group.
Frances enjoyed sewing, knitting and playing cards. She was organized and would spend hours investigating her and Lloyd’s ancestry. Frances loved her popcorn, chocolate and Dr. Pepper. She truly enjoyed cooking for her family during the holiday season and hosting her loved ones for holiday meals, though her favorite relative perhaps was Taz, her grandpup. She will be remembered for her beautiful handwriting, short funny quips and feistiness.
Frances is survived by her children, Deanne Priebe of Blaine, MN, David Priebe of Salem, OR, Kent (Melanie) Priebe of Maynard, MN, Karen (Rick) Bisson of Daytona Beach, FL; grandchildren, Nael (Emily Barrett) Fox-Priebe, Jackie (Michael) Divine, Cory Bisson, Sawyer Bisson; great-grandchildren, Alisi and Haris; nephews, Wayne (Linda) Boike, Lyle (Kris) Boike, Dean (Kim) Boike, as well as extended family and friends.
