Frances Larsen, age 98, of Clara City passed away August 16, 2018, at the Clara City Care Center. Frances Wilhelmina Larsen was born on February 15, 1920, on the family farm in Crate Township, Chippewa County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Frank and Minnie (Vander Heyden) Jaenisch. Frances was baptized and confirmed at St. Clara Catholic Church in Clara City.
On February 10, 1941, Frances was united in marriage to Ernest “Bud” Larsen at St. Clara Catholic Church. They farmed near Maynard until 1968, when they moved to Clara City. She and Bud owned and operated Fran’s Foodway Catering for many years. Frances was an active member of St. Clara Catholic Church, volunteering in various capacities such as Mission Circle, Catholic Aid Society, funeral meals and wherever else she was needed. For her volunteer service she was honored with the Bishop’s Medal from the New Ulm Diocese in 1994. She was also involved with the Happy Homemaker’s Club, Belle Bloomer Band, Care Center Auxiliary, Nutrition Center and volunteered with Bud at Prairie Five for eight years. She loved spending time with family and friends, baking, decorating cakes, crocheting, crafts, wallpapering and traveling.
Frances is survived by her two children: Donald (Millicent) of Willmar and Dorothy (William) Fridgen of Monticello; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; her parents and two sisters: Anna Marie Daniels and Clara Gerdes.
