Frances Luverne Kvam was born on June 10, 1924, in Wood Lake, MN, the daughter of Vernon and Elda House. She was baptized on June 18, 1924 at St. JohnÂ?s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake and confirmed in the Christian faith on May 22, 1938 at St. LukeÂ?s Lutheran Church in Posen Township, Yellow Medicine County, MN. She attended country school in Posen Township and for a while, in Redwood County near Belview, MN. She graduated from high school in Wood Lake in 1942. All of her life, Frances courageously faced her physical difficulties with a positive, Christian attitude. She was a cook for the parochial school in Wood Lake for several years and worked for the Schindles family as a housekeeper and in their theatre business before marrying Sidney Kvam on March 6, 1954, at St. LukeÂ?s Lutheran Church in Posen Township. Following her marriage, Frances assisted Sidney in their farming operation in Stony Run Township and loved gardening, driving the tractor, canning, watching local sports, cooking, baking, playing whist and spending time with her family and friends. She and Sidney moved into Granite Falls in 1986 and to keep busy, volunteered as drivers for those in need of local transportation. Sidney passed away in 1998. Frances was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and participated in Ladies Aid, LWML, church choir, bible study and several circles. In the evening hours of Sunday February 20, 2011, Frances was peacefully called from this life at her home in Granite Falls. She was 86 years of age. She is survived by her children- Leroy (& Deb) Kvam of Granite Falls, MN, Les (& Mary) Kvam of Marshall, MN, Gordy Kvam of Granite Falls, MN, and Judy (& Pat) Winters of Benson, MN; she is survived by 7 grandchildren; 2 step-grand children- Jeff (& Amanda) Bot and Stacy (& Kelly) Klema; 15 great grandchildren, 2 sisters- Dorothy Gilb of Marshall and Verlaine Schlemmer of Milroy and extended family. Preceding Frances in death were her parents; her husband and a son- Randy (in 1977) and a brother Douglas.
